Transnasal Feeding Tubes
The right feeding tube for every indication
Transnasal feeding tubes help patients to get their feeding quickly when they need it whether it is in acute care or in ICU care. They are available as gastric tubes and intestinal tubes. Transnasal tubes can also be used for drainage and decompression of stomach fluid to prevent from vomiting. They are intended for a short-to medium-term use of up to 4 weeks. Gastric tube placement usually requires no additional tools, whereas intestinal tubes or multilumen tube are better placed by using endoscopy.
For every indication Fresenius Kabi provides the right feeding tube. This site covers transnasal feeding tubes for adults.

Multilumen feeding tubes
Multilumen feeding tubes are special tubes for the ICU patient, who requires jejunal feeding and simultaneous gastric drainage or decompression. This may be required in patients after trauma or in ventilated patients. Multilumen feeding tubes have the advantage of a multi-functionality covered in one device which is of higher comfort for the patient and caregivers. Only one nostril of the patient is needed which helps him for better breathing. For this purpose, Fresenius Kabi offers two sophisticated multilumen feeding tubes with the experience of more than 20 years.
Freka Trelumina
has 3 different lumens
- The biggest lumen is for gastric decompression for maximal flow
- A jejunal feeding lumen
- A ventilation lumen to avoid vacuum during suction

Cross section of Freka Trelumina
A = Mandrin for tube stabilisation
B = Intestinal lumen for jejunal feeding, ENFit connector
C = Gastric lumen for decompression/drainage of the stomach, Funnel connector
D = Gastric ventilation lumen for pressure regulation during suction, Valve
Freka EasyIn
is a tube-in-tube
The placement can be done through the working channel of an endoscope. The outer tube is for gastric decompression. The inner tube is for jejunal feeding.
