Nutrition is the fuel of life
Our daily food and drink intake provides us with all the vital ingredients our body needs. We cannot live without food. But for most people, eating is much more than just consuming food. It is an important element of our social identity, and is closely associated with enjoyment and zest for life.
Avoiding imbalanced nutrition
If we do not eat enough, or the food we select does not provide a balanced diet, it may have serious consequences for our physical and mental health. The consequences of a poor or inadequate diet are especially apparent at times of increased need, for example as we age or suffer from illness or diseases.
Poor nutrition can be the result of both under- and overeating. But it is not only the quantity of energy (calories) taken that is important. The quantity and quality of protein, fat and carbohydrates consumed also plays a major role, and an adequate supply of vital nutrients such as minerals and vitamins are essential to maintaining a good nutritional status.
Poor or inadequate nutrition can affect anyone
As we age or become seriously ill, the focus is often on medical treatment and drugs. It is easy to lose sight of diet, however it is precisely now that a diet appropriate to our needs makes a difference. With Fresubin we are offering an effective solution for the dietary management of people with or at risk of inadequate nutrition.
