Why Nutrition Matters for Growing Children

Children need adequate nutrition to support normal growth, development and overall health. When nutritional requirements are not met, this can be particularly challenging for children with underlying medical conditions.

Early identification of nutritional concerns allows healthcare professionals to assess individual needs and recommend appropriate nutritional support where required.

Malnutrition can have a range of impacts on children including: impaired physical growth where children may not reach their height potential; delayed neurological development which can affect learning and cognitive function; longer hospital stays as recovery takes longer; and a reduced quality of life due to less energy for play and learning.

Supporting Nutrition When Food Isn't Enough

Oral nutritional supplements: When appetite is reduced or nutritional needs are difficult to meet through food alone, healthcare professionals may recommend oral nutritional supplements as part of a child's nutritional care plan.

Tube feeding:  When oral intake isn’t possible or insufficient, tube feeding can deliver complete nutrition directly to the stomach or intestine. Many children still eat normally alongside tube feeding when it is safe to do so.

Frebini tube feeds* are available in ORIGINAL and higher-calorie ENERGY formulations, both of which come in FIBRE variations.

Fresubin's Freibini range is specifically designed for children and comes in a range of formats and flavours, including Frebini ORIGINAL Tube Feed and Frebini Chocolate-flavoured ENERGY FIBRE Drink.

Frebini® products are classed as Foods for Special Medical Purposes and as such should be used under medical supervision. Fresenius Kabi are not able to sell products direct to patients or their carers. If you are concerned about your nutritional intake, we recommend speaking to your GP, dietitian, or healthcare team who can offer advice based on your medical history and individual needs.
