Supporting you through difficult times
A cancer diagnosis changes everything
Being diagnosed with Cancer may be deeply shocking news with treatment often starting immediately and each may come with side effects. Every patient and the therapy received are unique and individual so it is not to say you will have all or perhaps even any of these side effects.
All kinds of therapy like surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy or radiation affect you and your nutritional status as they interfere with the body's ability to digest, absorb or properly metabolize nutrients from food. When your body does not get enough essential nutrients and energy, malnutrition occurs.
It is exactly when we are in this situation, that we need to find out everything about our health status so that we understand vital information properly. A diet suited to your specific needs, which forms a sound basis for the impending cancer treatments, is one of these aspects.
Read about Tina's story
Tina is 52 years old. She loves her job as a stage actress portraying different characters, even though it is quite stressful. Having a big family also gives and demands strength. To regain energy Tina plays billiards, because it requires a clear head and concentration.
After she was diagnosed with cancer, Tina had to change her daily routine. She could no longer do what she loves because she experienced various side effects from the chemotherapy, including nausea and fatigue. She also noticed unintentional weight loss, due to her decreased appetite and reduced portion sizes.
Tina's regular diet was therefore insufficient to meet her increased needs for energy and nutrients.
